This is the home page of Earth Shot. A site devoted to pictures of this planet, both real and computer generated. There is plenty of colour inside, despite this black and white exterior. Feel free to use any of my pictures as you wish - copyright will not be enforced.
Mountains: This section contains many photos of the great Himalayan giants, Everest, K2, Kangchenjunga and Annapurna, as well as photos of Ladakh, Zanskar and the Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan and the Huayhuash range in Peru, and Torres del Paine in Patagonia, Chile.
Australian Bush: Here we have pictures of the Australian Bush. I have been a keen bushwalker for almost 30 years and there are photos going back to the days when colour was a luxury I could not afford.
Exotic Places: This section is for photos that don't fit in with Mountains.
Rendered Hills: This is the newest section that is dedicated to graphic renderings of the real world. The areas covered are the same as the treks so to get a better impression of these regions look in this section as well.
Graphics: There are pictures and animations here generated with Lightwave, Bryce, Real3D and Terragen. Some places are real and some imaginary. There is some cross over between this section and Mountains as I have several renderings of mountains done with Terragen.
Family: This is a section of a personal nature that will be of limited interest to those not related to me. (You know who you are). I hope to build this area up later.

A note on browsers: Some of the content here requires ActiveX enabled in IE to see it with all the features but it will still show you the pictures. Also in IE the larger photos will be automatically reduced to the browser size unless you disable automatic sizing in tools/internet options/advanced/multimedia. Firefox sometimes has difficulty streaming the animations so you can download them and play them locally if necessary, IE is fine.

14th July 2008: Last Everest fly through done. Namchee to the Western Cwm. Visit the Everest in CG page to access all the graphics of the Khumbu region.
11th July 2008: Another two Everest flights rendered and running. Bung to Namchee Bazar and Namchee Bazar to Gokyo Ri or use the links from the Everest Animations page under "Rendered Hills"
9th July 2008: Added photographs of Lord Howe Island to the "Australian Bush" section
8th July 2008: New fly throuth Tumlingtar to Gokyo added to Everest animations.
6th July 2008: Re done the Everest in CG section under "Rendered Hills". Panoramas are now done with Flash and the landscapes have more detail. More Fly through's still to be rendered and added.
13th June 2008: Added photos of Jenolan and Katoomba taken in March this year. Included in the Australian Bush section. Also updated the main Bush page with new menu and "Zoomify" panorama of the Grose Valley.
8th June 2008: Updated the Paine panoramas to Flash format for the reasons given below.
23rd April 2008: Changed the three photographic panoramas, Concordia, Pisang and Manang, to the Flash format. This is because of continuing difficulties with the Quick time player and its desire to install iTunes and the Safari browser along with updates. I will be changing the remaining QTVR panoramas soon. Flash has the added advantage of being installed on more PC's, being a smaller plugin, and doing full screen renders.
10th March 2008: Added illustrated trek log for K2. All the photos were taken from the video. Click them for a full size picture.
