Torres del Paine

A rendered look at the Paine Circuit

Here we have links to several animations, Flash panoramas, photo comparisons and photos of Torres del Paine in the southern Patagonian region of Chile. For more information as to how these landscapes were generated see here. If you want to re run the flash animatioon above right click it and select "play". You will need the flash plugin for this.

This section is slightly different from the others on this site. The generated views are not made with Landsat overlays but use World Construction Setenviroments to show trees, grass, glaciers, lakes, rivers and snow. The terrain is still Photosderived from DEM's patched by Jonathan de Ferranti so is asComparisons accurate as the 90m sampling will allow. The panoramas arecubic so you can pan up and down as far as you like.

The button to the left will take you to photos of the trek and that to the right to comparison views of rendered and photographed views.

The arrows on the map below link to panoramas at each of the camp sites on the Circuit. "Orbit" is a high altitude view of the area whilst "Circuit" takes you along the trek at a lower level. The numbers take you to individual days walk between the camps. All these routs are derived from GPS readings taken at the time except Day 8 (shown in red) which was estimated as I forgot to turn the GPS on.
